Absolutely Massive Super Saturday today!

For the second weekend in a row, there is a massive slate of games and events for Tiger Sports’ teams before us.  This may be the biggest group of games we have ever had in one day since the creation of the WSTX Sports Network.  Every single spring sports team is in action today! That may also be a first! Let’s get a run down of today’s games and events:

  • The Tiger Tennis team travels to Nashville to take on Carter High School all day long.
  • Day 2 of the KHSAA Bass Fishing State Championship started at 7:00 AM at Kentucky Lake early this morning.  Good luck to our representatives from St. Xavier, David Brewer and Brent Sturgeon!
  • The weight room will be filled today with the Iron Tiger Powerlifting Competition running from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This is the big event for all of the Tiger Power Lifters as they look to make it onto the big board of St. X power lifting greats with a max good enough to be the best in their weight class.
  • Tiger Volleyball has another busy day as they play both JV and Varsity Quad Matches at 9:00 AM.
  • The Tiger Track and Field team has one of its biggest meets of the year as they travel to University of Louisville Cardinal Park to participate in the Eastern Relays.
  • The Varsity Tiger Baseball team plays in the Louisville Invitational Tournament this weekend.  Their first game of the LIT is against visiting Paducah Tilghman at 10:00 AM, then at 3:00 PM vs. Manual. Both games are at home at Mueller Field.
  • Tiger Lacrosse hosts Zionsville for a double header.  JV plays at 11:00 AM at Br. Thomas More Stadium and Varsity follows them at 12:30 PM. The Green Team travels to Eastern to play at 3:00 PM as well.
  • Tiger Rugby rounds out the day with two games. The B side plays Moeller at 4:30 PM at Br. Thomas More Stadium, then the A side caps off the day with a match against the Crusaders of Moeller at 6:00 PM.

If you can, try and make it out to any of these exciting events today, but if not, as always WSTX Sports will have coverage all day long on Twitter.

Another action-packed Saturday is upon us filled with plenty of Tiger Sports competition to fill your heart’s desires.  In the heart of every spring sports’ season it is time for some teams to start separating themselves from the pack.  Let’s get a run down of today’s games and events:

      • All 3 levels of Tiger Volleyball hit the road today as they participate in the Wapahani Tournament in Selma, IN.  All three teams are set to begin play at 9:00 AM.
      • The Brother Borgia/Frank Cooper Invitational Track Meet is today inside Br. Thomas More Stadium.  The No. 1 ranked Tiger Track team will look to defend their home track and perform well against some of the region’s best competition.
      • Freshman baseball has a big double header today as they play Manual first at Derby City Field at 10:00 AM, then back at home against Pleasure Ridge Park at 1:30 PM following the Varsity game.  The Freshman Tigers are 14-3 on the season.
      • JV Tiger Baseball also plays Manual today at Derby City Field.  First pitch for that game is scheduled for 12:30 PM.
      • Varsity Tiger Baseball has one of its biggest games of the season today against the visiting Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers.  Improving upon last weekend’s win over rival Trinity will be big for the team without Austin Clemons.  The PRP Panthers are defending state champions and will be looking to defeat the Tigers just like they did in the second round of the state tournament last year, ending St. X’s season.
      • JV Tiger Lacrosse will play Eastern High School on the road at 1:00 PM.  JV has only taken one loss on the season thus far and look to keep it that way against the Eagles today.
      • Bonus bullet point: Senior Stephan Gray has committed to Union College on a Track and Field Scholarship.  He will also walk on to the Bulldog football team as well. Congrats Stephan!

If you can, try and make it out to any of these exciting events today, but if not, as always WSTX Sports will have coverage all day long on Twitter.

With spring sports, there comes action-packed Saturdays filled with plenty of Tiger Sports competition to fill your heart’s desires.  Winter sports have concluded and another state championship was brought home to Tiger land.  We now fully place our concentration on spring sports teams here at St. Xavier, so let’s get a run down of today’s games and events:

      • The Track and Field Tiger Relays begin at 9:00 AM at Br. Thomas More Stadium.  The team has had a couple of good meets so far in Lexington at the University of Kentucky and hope to build on those performances to keep the season going strong.
      • Tiger Rugby (A) will take on rival Cincinnati St. Xavier on the road up in Ohio at noon.  Look for a bounce back from a great game, but loss against Indianapolis Cathedral last weekend.  It is always a good match-up when the Tigers and Bombers get together, no matter the sport.  The B side will also play the Bombers at 1:30 PM.
      • Tiger Baseball has their first scrimmage of the year at noon, too.  Coach Andy Porta and the team will take on Apollo right next to the track meet on Mueller Field.  Come get a hot dog and soda from the Tiger Boosters at the concession stand and enjoy the beginning of what is sure to be a great season of America’s pastime.
      • A double header in Lacrosse action will be taking place 177 miles south of here as the Tigers take on Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, TN.  JV will be up first at 1:00 PM, followed by the Varsity game at 3:00 PM.  St. Xavier enters the game ranked No. 1 in the state by the Lax Power Computer Rankings.  This is a much anticipated match-up between a great attack from St. Xavier and a great defense from MBA, it was even featured in Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
