This week the Tigers competed in sectional and regional play. Juniors Matt Graft and Kamron Akrami won the doubles regional championship, while teammate Brandon Lancaster won the singles championship in dominating fashion. Lancaster dropped only 2 games during the entire tournament! The Tigers easily won their region and punched their ticket into the state tournament.

The Tigers also traveled to Elizabethtown this weekend to compete in sectionals at Freeman Lake. The Tigers were able to win sectionals without any issues to put them in the Final Four for state play.

Due to KHSAA tennis rules, after three matches are won by one team, all other matches are stopped. Here are the results from Saturday’s sectionals:

Round of 16 versus North Oldham (In order of finish)
1) Brandon Lancaster won 6-0, 6-0
2) Adam Hardin/Andy Keal won 6-1, 6-0
3) Drew Singerman won 6-0, 6-0

Elite Eight versus Trinity (In order of finish)
1) Brandon Lancaster won 6-0, 6-1
2) Matt Graft won 6-0, 6-0
3) Drew Singerman won 6-0, 6-0

Senior Brandon Lancaster and sophomore Drew Singerman are red hot coming into tournament play. Lancaster appears to be one of the favorites heading into this weekend and he will be looking to capture his second straight state singles championship. Head Coach Kerry Lancaster has had his team working hard all season to prepare for this upcoming week. Next week the Tigers will travel to Lexington, KY to play for their 7th straight state title and 24th overall!
