Region 7 will play Region 12 in the 1st Round

Today, the KHSAA held their 2015 Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament Draw Show.  Before we break it down too much, let’s remember there is a lot of regular season, district and region games to be played.  Tiger Baseball is going for their fifth straight trip to the state tournament this postseason, so we’ll go ahead and get you ready for what has been a great tradition of playing in Lexington in June.

The 7th Region, which is home to the four time repeating champion Tiger Baseball team, has been matched up with the 12th Region in the First Round of the 2015 Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament.  Last year’s 12th Region champion was Southwestern High School and this year, West Jessamine is currently in first place of the Region.

The first round of the tournament is scheduled to put the Tigers playing a a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday week if they are going to make it back to the state championship. There isn’t that extra day of rest that the top of the bracket gets after the second round, but if the Tigers are on a roll, then we may not want a rest day in there and just finish the thing off!

Here’s to hoping St. Xavier is written into the bracket in about a month!

The annual Draw Show for the 2015 Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament will be conducted at the Association’s headquarters on Wednesday, April 29 at 2:00 PM. The Draw Show will be streamed live online at KHSAA.tv, with complete brackets available on the KHSAA website and the KHSAA/Riherds.com Scoreboard following the draw.

The 2015 Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament will take place June 1-6 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.
