On Day 1, the pair caught two fish for a total of 5 lbs, which was there only reel in of the weekend. Congrats to these guys and Coach Yarborough who represented St. X in a great way in only the second year of this event!
The second annual KHSAA Bass Fishing State Championship gets underway Friday morning with the boat launch at 7:00 AM Central Time from the Kentucky Dam Marina in Gilbertsville. The first flight will return to the marina at 3:00 PM to begin the weigh-in process, with the second flight returning at 3:15 PM. The schedule of events will be the same for Saturday’s competition, with the awards presentation taking place immediately following the final day’s weigh-in.
Forty-six teams qualified for this year’s event from a pool of 185 teams at the four regional tournaments, an increase in participation of 76 percent over the sport’s inaugural 2012-13 campaign.
A random draw was conducted to determine the launch order for the 2014 championship, and can be found at the following link: http://khsaa.org/bassfishing/2014/state/randomboatassignments.pdf. Brent Sturgeon and David Brewer along with their Captain Matt Yarborough will be in the second flight and in the No. 32 boat.
A live webcast of the weigh-in on both days will be produced by FLW and available at KHSAA.org.
