The matchup we have all been waiting for is finally here: St. X-Trinity. The Tigers come in at 5-0 and are fresh off a big 35-21 road win at PRP. On the other side, Trinity improved to 6-0 last week by beating J-Town 40-6.

Junior RB Anthony “Tones” Moretti has officially entered the starting lineup after senior Brett Metzmeier tore his ACL last week. Although Moretti was not the starter, he has had ample playing time this year, logging 6 touchdowns in the last 4 games. Look for Moretti to pick up where Metzmeier left off in terms of backfield productivity.

Like Moretti, the Tiger defense faces a challenge, but it is ready to step up to the plate. Trinity’s pass-heavy offense boasts some talent, highlighted by 4-star wide receiver Rondale Moore and quarterback Nick Bohn. Expect the Tiger secondary, led by senior Jake Netherton, to slow down Moore’s hot start to the year. Also, don’t be surprised if Andrew Uhls and the rest of the defensive linemen are in Bohn’s face all night.

The offensive line is also a major key for Coach Wolford’s squad tonight. Wyatt Smock, Chase Farris, and the rest of the boys in the trenches have been playing well all year, and I do not expect that to stop now. If they execute like they have been, there should be big holes for Moretti and plenty of time in the pocket for Albers.

Speaking of Albers, he is another key component for the Tigers tonight, as he has been all year. Albers’ dual-threat abilities will bode well for St. X’s offense tonight, because his scrambling abilities will open up the passing game. Look for Albers to have a strong game on the ground and through the air.

Trinity has a good team, but St. X is ready for battle. If the defense continues the tear they’ve been on all year and Albers keeps leading the offense as well as he has, the Tigers will emerge victorious tonight.
