Game Notes

The Tigers march into Central tonight looking to start 4-0 for the first time since 2008, and Coach Wolford’s squad is feeling confident. After romping Fairdale last week 56-14, they march into a hostile environment looking for their fourth straight win. Quarterback Jack Albers said, “Its a crazy place to play, a lot of people show up and it’s just a fun environment to play in.” Saint X handled Central last year easily, winning 43-0 on patriotic night. However, don’t expect it to be that easy this year.

After losing in the 3A state championship last year, Central has started the season strong. After winning their first 3 games, Central lost to Ballard last week, 30-7. This is the team’s first year under new head coach Marvin Dantzler after head coach Ty Scroogins left the job following last season. The Yellowjackets do not have much of a passing game, so they will look to run the ball consistiently throughout the game. If the Tiger defense is able to stop Central’s running attack, look for this game to get out of hand quickly.

The game is going to be won in the trenches, and that is why I expect the Tigers to come out on top. Look for the offensive line to continue its dominance against a Central defensive line that doesn’t have the talent or size to compete. Also look for Andrew Uhls and co. to be in the Central backfield a lot tonight. This one could be close at half, but look for the Tigers to pull away after halftime.
