Tiger Football | St. X Alums in College
It was a big weekend for Tiger football, as Coach Wolford led his team to an easy 56-14 victory over Fairdale at home on Friday. Former Tigers also had a strong showing at the college level. Let’s take a look at some of their performances:
- Kentucky wide receiver Charles Walker, class of 2014, made solid contributions for the ‘Cats in a 27-16 win over Eastern Kentucky. Walker tallied 2 catches for 38 yards. The Wildcats moved to 2-0 and will play South Carolina next week.
- Owen Johnson also had a great outing for Elon on Saturday. Johnson, class of 2017, knocked in a game-winning 36-yard field goal in the closing seconds to seal a 34-31 victory over Furman. He finished the day 2/2 on field goals and 4/4 on extra points. He is only a freshman, but Johnson has already made a huge impact for Elon.
- Brad Schickel also knocked in a game-winning field goal. His 30-yarder as time expired gave the University of Indianapolis a 31-28 win over Wayne State. University of Indianapolis is ranked #18 in the country thanks largely in part to Schickel’s outstanding kicking.
- Mason King started again for Louisville at punter, but played sparingly, as the Cards hung 6 touchdowns on UNC. He recorded only one punt for 36 yards in the 47-35 victory. Louisville is back in action against Clemson next week.
Congrats to all the other Tiger Alums who played this past weekend and good luck the rest of the year. Go Tigers!
