Tiger Wrestling Looks to take their Fourth State Title
The Tiger Wrestling team heads into this weekend’s State Championship as the No.2 ranked team in the state, only behind Union County. Union County is the defending state champion, and undoubtedly the Tigers top competition for the title. When these teams faced each other a few weeks ago in the State Duals, Union Co. defeated the Tigers 46-19.
Obviously there is some work to do for the Tigers who are looking for their first title since 2013. It’ll be difficult work, but there are a few individuals who will look to lead the Tigers to victory.
Individuals who look to have the best shot to win their weight-class are Nate Wheeler (ranked No. 3 at 120 pounds), Konner Kraeszig (No. 3 at 138) and Clayton Henson (No. 2 at 145). Also, Dallas Miles ranks No.5 in the 152 pound weight class and will have an outside shot at taking an individual title.
The State Championships are set for Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena in Lexington. Wrestling will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday and continue throughout the day. Saturday’s matches will start at 9 a.m., with the finals set to begin at approximately 5 p.m.
