In the second round of the state tournament, the Tiger Baseball team faced the defending state champions West Jessamine.

Current Louisville freshman Adam Elliot kept the Colts at bay, not allowing a single run through the sixth inning. The Tigers held a 2-0 lead heading into the seventh inning.

That’s when West Jessamine tied up the game and put the Tigers on edge, but that would not remain the case for long.

Sam Mudd was up to bat first at the bottom of the seventh inning. It was a 2-1 count and the Colts’ pitcher threw a fast ball high and inside. Mudd sent the ball flying over the left field fence to finish the ballgame.

With that win, the Tigers advanced to the state semifinals and from there… well we know what happened next.
