Tiger Basketball Takes on the Jim Clark Hornet Holiday Classic
The Tiger Basketball team flew to Florida today in preparation for the 2016 Jim Clark Hornet Holiday Classic. The tournament features teams from Maryland and Florida playing in a three-day tournament at Bishop Moore High School. They will tipoff tomorrow morning against Trinity Catholic.
After a rough stretch of games in the past weeks, the Tigers head into the tournament with a modest 5-3 record. What the team needs to work on heading into the tournament is defensive intensity. They can’t rely on just big plays to get them fired up and rolling, which is what seems to be the case to this point in the season.
Looking ahead, the Tigers face a loaded schedule, facing DeSales, Trinity, Eastern, Ballard, and Fern Creek in the month of January. If they can work on their intensity and pick up some wins in this tournament then it would give a big confidence boost heading into the New Year.
Tiger Nation, it’s important to keep note that last year’s team went through this same process. They did not even begin to play their best basketball until January came around, which is where I believe the current team stands right now. They have the talent and size to play with anyone in the state, but now it’s just a matter of putting it all together.
Time to go to work.
