What Have You Been Up To, Trinity?
Hello Tiger Nation! After a 31-21 victory over Male last Friday, the Tiger Football team has reached the state semi-finals for the first time since 2009. They will play arch rival Trinity at 6:30 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Last time these teams played, Trinity controlled the tempo and defeated the Tigers by a score of 35-13. This looks to be a very different game this time around as the Tigers have been peaking at just the right time. So Trinity, what have you been up to?
Record: 6-0 (13-0 overall)
Eastern: Trinity defeated Eastern 56-0 to win their second district game of the year.
Seneca: Defeated Seneca by a score of 58-0.
Ballard: Finished the regular season by defeating Ballard 55-0. Outscored district opponents 239-0 in regular season play.
*Ohio County:Won 69-0.
*Eastern: Same score the second time around.
*Ballard: The Shamrocks came out flat this game, but ultimately outgunned Ballard by a score of 63-20. First time they had allowed points since playing the Tigers.
Nothing really had to be said after the loss, but the atmosphere in the locker room, at practice, and during games has just been different. Since playing Trinity, the Tigers have dialed in and been playing their best football of the year.
The Tigers have known for almost the last two months that the playoffs would work out this way and they have been slowly been waiting for another shot at the Shamrocks. With a trip to Bowling Green on the line, it’s going to be an all out war come Friday Night.
It can’t come soon enough.
