2016-2017 Tiger Hockey Team Preview
After a tough season last year, the Tiger hockey team will look to rebound this upcoming season. They have already started the season on a strong note, tying 2-2 with Dunbar on Thursday. Junior Max Furlan scored both goals.
This is the second season under a new coaching staff for the Tiger Hockey team. The coaches head into this year’s season with high expectations, as do the players. “This years team will shock so many people,” senior Wyatt Hank says. “We worked hard in the offseason, every week we were in the weight room lifting as a team.”
The team will be led by senior Ben Lally, last year’s leading scorer, and junior goalie Grider Campbell.
“If Grider stays healthy this year, our defense will be tough to beat,” senior Grant Dvorak says. “Our skills have improved since last season especially on offense, we just need to stay out of the penalty box this year.”
The Tigers will try to put hockey back on the map for St.X, but it won’t be easy. They have one of the toughest schedules this program has seen.
The Tigers will take on rival Trinity this Monday at Iceland Sports Complex at 8:45 P.M. They are looking to start off the winter sports season strong, and a win over Trinity for the first time in seven years would prove to do just that.
