District Game #3
Male High School
The Tigers travel to Male High School in their third district matchup of the year with some stakes on the line. Whoever wins this game will (likely) begin the playoffs with three home games. St.X has played close to Male as of late, but have lost the last four matchups, and they will be looking to end the streak tonight.
On paper, the Tiger Offense is poised to have a great game tonight. Male has typically played with six players in the box and five in coverage, which will cater to a huge running attack for Sam Taylor and Desmond Ridder tonight. The Tigers have averaged well over 200 yards rushing per game, playing against 7 or 8 guys in the box. Of course, the Bulldogs are sure to make adjustments, but if they don’t, they’ll have a hard time stopping the run game.
The Tiger Defense will need to stop Male’s lethal passing attack if they are going to win this game. That will largely fall on the secondary, but constant pressure on Male quarterback T.J. Thomas will be key as well. Thomas has passed for over 1000 yards and has 20 touchdowns against three interceptions. His top receivers in B.K. Smith and Ethan Bibb have combined for 11 of those touchdowns and the Tiger Secondary will need to match their speed to stop them.
