After failing to reach the state finals last year for the first time since 2006, the Bluebirds have had a lot of work to do. Through four games, they’ve had a tough time getting their feet off the ground. So far, Highlands has posted a 1-3 record, their only win coming in their season-opener against Cooper. However, they aren’t a squad to overlook.

Highlands is very similar to St.X; both having a rich tradition, hard-working players on and off the field, and an expectation of success. Which is the very reason that this team can’t be overlooked. They will always be a traditional powerhouse (they have the second-most winningest program in the nation), and like St.X, won’t hide their tails in the face of a tough opponent.

Look for a quarterback dual between Desmond Ridder and Brady Gosney. Ridder will be coming off a hot start, passing for three touchdowns and running for two. Gosney on the other hand has been the star of their offense, notably putting up over 300 yards passing for four touchdowns against 6A power Scott County.
