Mudd’s walk-off home run was first walk-off for St. X in State Tournament since 2013

Walk-offs are pretty rare in baseball. Walk-off home runs are even more rare. When Sam Mudd hit the walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to defeat West Jessamine 3-2, it was the first time a Tiger had hit a walk-off in the State Baseball tournament since June 4, 2013.

The walk-off in 2013 was a single, but it had the same effect as Mudd’s as it won the game for St. X. The Tigers were down 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning to Logan County in the first round. Andrew Hubbs hit a walk off single that drove in Trace Amshoff and Austin Clemons to win the game 2-1.

Two walk-offs in the State tournament in the past four years is pretty impressive.
