Tiger Soccer won their fourth game in a row Wednesday night with a 2-0 win over #7 duPont Manual. Seniors Colin Kremer and Matthew Phelan scored the goals tonight against one of the better goal keepers in the state. Tiger goalie Davis George had a big night as well, as he saved 12 Manual shots on goal.

“I think we are riding high right now,” Phelan said. “We’re on a four game winning streak, and we just got to keep going on that streak. We trimmed down the turnovers tonight and played some solid defense.”

St. X once again went into halftime tied at 0, but Kremer scored 2 minutes in the 2nd half to put the Tigers ahead. The Manual goalie dived for the ball, but the ball took a weird bounce and went right over the goalie’s head and into the back of the net. Phelan put the nail in the coffin in the 70th minute. Phelan nailed a shot to the top left corner and put St. X up 2-0.

“This gives me a lot of confidence,” Phelan said. “After I came back from injury, my touch was a little off, and I’ve been working on it at home. Getting the goal tonight solidified that my injury didn’t take that much out of me and that I can still play my game.”

This marks the Tigers’ third win over a top 10 in-state opponent. The Tiger had previously beaten South Oldham and Daviess County.

“We need to keep our confidence up, and I think we can give Salesianum a run for their money tomorrow night,” Phelan said. “They’re really good, but I think we’re just as good as them.”

NEXT GAME: Thursday vs. Salesianum – 7:00 pm
