Tiger Golf wins Madison Central Invitational by 10 strokes
The Tiger Golf team won again on Saturday, as they took home first place at the Madison Central Invitational. The Tigers defeated the host, Madison Central, by 10 strokes.
1) Saint Xavier (+2)
2) Madison Central (+12)
3) Franklin County (+13)
4) Trinity (+20)
5) Lexington Christian (+21)
Mike Sass led the Tigers this weekend, as he shot 4-under par on the day. Sass had six birdies on the day and birdied 15, 16 and 17 at the end of his round. Sass birdied a four footer on 15, a three footer on 16 and an 18 footer on 17.
“I putted average the whole day, and I really didn’t make a lot of putts,” Sass said. “It didn’t take anything out of the ordinary to make a couple short ones. I did happen to make that mid-range putt on 17 and that’s the longest I made the whole day. Those three birdies just happened to come together at the end of my round.”
Billy Basham and Drew Kiehl both finished at 1-over par. Matt Liston shot 4-over par, and Allen Hamilton finsihed at 5-over par.
“I think we are playing well as a team right now,” Sass said. “We have about a month left until state, and we have had a great season so far. I think everyone on our team would agree that our best is yet to come.”
