Junior Desmond Ridder has been named the starting quarterback for Tiger Football according to Jason Frakes of the Courier-Journal and other reports. Senior A.J. Breit will also see playing time and it will be a battle of performance in-game as well, but you will see Ridder under center first tomorrow night in the season opener.

The 6’4″ 185 lbs. quarterback has prototypical QB size and has obviously shown the skills to have new offensive coordinator Dave Nurnberg hand him the reigns to the team for the first game. Ridder only saw time in a few games last year, but his development over the offseason was “eye-popping” one source said.

Ridder will make his debut as a varsity starter tomorrow night at Lexington Catholic vs. Henry Clay at 6:15 PM in the Bluegrass Bowl. We’ll have more on this developing story as the day rolls on. Go Tigers!
