It’s almost the end of talking season, which is the time leading up right before the actual kickoff of football season where everyone has an opinion about everything. The Courier-Journal is churning out tons of content about local high school football and Jason Frakes weighed in on his take about the Tigers in 2015.

Frakes released a video that you can see here in which he broke down the C-J Preseason High School Football Poll where Tiger Football is ranked No. 3. He mentioned how the Tigers always reload and that Logan Butler returns as the Tigers’ leading tackler from 2014 and that is a great place to start in building a defense.

The Tigers only return three starters, but Frakes spoke with Coach Wolford and the ole ball coach is feeling confident that the Tigers will get deep into the playoffs again.

“We put together a really difficult weight program in January, and they’ve excelled at it,” Wolford told Frakes. “They’re a tough-minded bunch of kids, and they’re ready to show it on the field.”

Everyone wants to talk about the quarterback race and the new offensive coordinator and so did Frakes. He asked Coach Wolford about that topic too and Wolford said the offense will be “more wide-open” in 2015 under the new play caller.

The Courier-Journal’s preview went on to name John Martinez and Colin O’Daniel as two guys who they think will be big time playmakers for St. X this upcoming season on offense. Ethan Adams and Logan Butler were the names they threw out for the defensive leaders and we have to agree.

When asked about the only two returning starters from the defesne, Coach Wolford had one of the best quotes I’ve heard all offseason, “We haven’t blocked those two guys in practice yet. Hopefully that shows against our opponents. Otherwise we’re going to be in trouble.”
