We want to thank you, Tiger Nation for continuing to make us your home for everything, Tiger Sports.

Best Athlete

Tiger Soccer’s Klayton Grimes brings home one of the premier awards of the night with the 2015 EXPY for Best Athlete. Grimes scored six goals this year for the Tigers, but was a team leader that produced without having to light up the score board. He was all over the field last season and apparently all over the campaign trail for people to vote for him because he led all vote getters with over 900 votes, which was almost 5 times as much as the second place finisher J.D. Mundt.

1. Klayton Grimes, Tiger Soccer
2. J.D. Mundt, Tiger Baseball
3. Nathan Haddad, Tiger Wrestling

Best Team

The top program at St. Xavier adds another trophy to their resume. The 2015 EXPY for Best Team goes to the Tiger Swimming and Diving Team! Coach Larkin’s squad were the big winners of this year’s award night. For the 27th straight year, Tiger Swimming won the KHSAA Swimming and Diving State Championship. With 7 teams winning a state title this year, the Tiger Sharks had some tough competition in this year’s tightest voted category.

1. Tiger Swimming and Diving
2. Tiger Lacrosse
3. Tiger Volleyball

Best Coach

Head Coach of the 2015 EXPYS Best Team, Todd Larkin repeats as EXPYS Best Coach. Last year, you the fans voted him the winner and did so again this year with over 200 votes. Larkin is in control of one of the biggest dynastys in the nation here at St. Xavier. A lot of coaches repeated as state champs, but Larkin repeats in bringing home hardware in mid-July.

1. Todd Larkin, Tiger Swimming and Diving
2. Scott Saylor, Tiger Rugby
3. Chris Gold, Tiger Power Lifting

Best Game

With out a doubt, one of the best performances by a Tiger Sports team during the 2014-2015 school year was from the Tiger Football team against the Trinity Shamrocks in their annual rivalry. The biggest stage in high school sports did not fail to produce an instant classic that brought the Shillelagh back to Poplar Level Road after a long drought. With over 31% of the vote going towards the football team’s way, they were a land slide winner in one of the toughest categories filled with so many great games for the Tigers.

1. Tiger Football vs. Trinity
2. Tiger Soccer vs. Male (District Championship)
3. Tiger Cross Country at Lexington Catholic Invitational

Best Championship Performance

Shades of Tiger Strength Coach Joe Tronzo were shown back in May by Jake Glass as he won the Shot Put State Championship at the KHSAA Track and Field State Meet. Glass helped push the Tiger Track and Field team to a Top-5 finish at the meet. Not normally do the Track and Field guys get a lot of love, but Jake had one of the biggest vote totals of the summer with over 300 coming in for the big guy.

1. Jake Glass winning the Shot Put State Championship
2. Tiger Track and Field’s 4×800 Relay Team setting a new school and state record, while winning the state championship.
3. Keefer Barnum winning the 100 yard Breaststroke State Championship.

Breakthrough Athlete of the Year

Konner Kraeszig 2015 EXPYS Winners

Over 700 votes came in for Tiger Wrestling Freshman Konner Kraeszig, which gave him a comfortable win in his first year as a Tiger. A true representative of the word breakthrough as he finished his first year in high school as a major contributor to the Tiger Wrestling team. Kraeszig looks to bring back a state title while wrestling for his dad over the next three years. The comment section was blowing up about the youngin’s character and he surely fits the bill as a Tiger Wrestling star in the making.

1. Konner Kraeszig, Tiger Wrestling
2. Keefer Barnum, Tiger Swimming and Diving
3. Logan Butler, Tiger Football

Tiger Pride Award

Tiger Soccer 2015 EXPYS Winners

Tiger Soccer gets another win at the 2015 EXPYS with the brand new award this year, the Tiger Pride Award. This award was for the team that exemplified the most school pride in the eyes of Tiger Nation. Tiger Soccer beat out favorite Tiger Football, who ended up third, most likely because of the votes from the Klayton Grimes camp. A great honor here for Coach Andy Schulten’s team.

1. Tiger Soccer
2. Tiger Swimming and Diving
3. Tiger Football
