Who says summer is the offseason? Not Tiger Golf.
On June 22, the Qualifiers for U.S. Junior Amateur were held in Kentucky. Tiger Golf’s Billy Basham teed it up at Bowling Green Country Club against some of the best competition in the state.
Basham overcame a difficult first 18 holes shooting a 75 to fire a final round of 67 to finish second and secure his spot. He will participate in the U.S. Junior Amateur at Colleton River in Bluffton, South Carolina (July 20-25).
Tiger Golfer Matt Liston also qualified with a winning score of three under par 141 for his 36-holes. Liston competed at the qualifier at Clovernook Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
While I was thumbing around KyGolf.org, I noticed that Former Tiger Cooper Musselman is in 8th Place for the 2015 John Owens Player of the Year Award that is handed out to Kentucky’s best amateur golfer based on a point system throughout the year and 2nd in the Bushnell Kentucky Amateur Standings. Way to go, Coop!
Another Former Tiger that we talk a lot about on this site is doing great again this weekend at the John Deere Classic, but we won’t mention any names because we might have jinxed him last weekend and we don’t want to do that again. If you’re big on following that certain Former Tiger flip your television sets to Golf Channel and they can’t stop talking about him. That guy is tied for first at -10 through 3 at the moment.
