The Tiger Track and Field team concluded their season Saturday at the 2015 KHSAA Track and Field State Championships, as they finished tied for 4th with 48 points. The Tigers took an early lead in the team standings, but Henry Clay showed off their depth, as they dominated the State meet with 93 points.

Team Scores
1) Henry Clay – 93
2) Bryant Station – 58
3) Paul Laurence Dunbar – 49
T-4) St. Xavier – 48

To start off the day, the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Matthew Thomas, Eli George, Ben Kleine-Kracht and William Mulloy won state with a time of 7:51.09. The Tigers beat the previous state record by one second that was set by the 2012 St. Xavier 4 x 800 meter relay team. As Former Tiger Thomas Cave said on Twitter, “If you break a school record, you break a state record.”

Over in the Shot Put, Jake Glass had himself a heck of a day, as he threw a 59-11.50 and won the event. It was a personal record throw for him and a great ending to a great career for Jake Glass, as he will head to Illinois State next year. No better way to go out than on top.

In the 3200 meter run, Andrew Garvey and Patrick Schaefer both scored for the Tigers. Garvey ran a very solid time of 9:33.52 and placed 5th. Schaefer, a freshman, stole the show. He was seeded last coming into the event, and he placed 6th with a time of 9:43.84. Not to shabby for the frosh.
