Bruins want revenge from scrimmage blowout
The Tiger baseball team will take on District 17 foe Central Hardin at 6:00 PM today at Mueller Field. This is a matchup of two former state champions between the Bruins, who won in 2011, and the Tigers, who are the defending KHSAA Baseball State Champions. The Tigers and Bruins squared off once before this year, in a scrimmage at St. X. The Tigers won that 10-inning scrimmage 10-1.
The Bruins enter this game with an 18-5 record, but are coming off of back-to-back losses to Elizabethtown and Christian Academy. The Tigers, on the other hand, are coming into this game feeling great. The Tigers are 23-7 and, since their 12-4 loss to Jeffersonville, have won 7 straight. The Tigers pitching has led them during this 7-game hot streak, allowing only 15 runs. The Tigers pitching has been stellar all year, but every member of the staff appears to be hitting their stride right now. The Tigers will likely trot out junior Adam Elliott or senior Grant Wessling to face the Bruins.
While the Tigers’ pitching has been amazing, the lineup has also stepped up its production. This lineup is one of the most balanced in the state. Sure there are sluggers like Dalton Dedas and Josh Finerty, and speedsters like Adam Elliott and Trent Revelette, but every batter, whether he hits leadoff, cleanup or in the nine-hole, is capable of changing the game at any time.
Everyone get out to the game and support the Tiger Baseball team in their pursuit of Number 7. It’s a huge week, with DeSales and Trinity coming later. This stretch could confirm if St. X can actually repeat.
Go Tigers! We Are!
