We all remember Wes Parker. Just last year, he completed a sterling career as a Tiger; he was a linebacker for St. X Football and an absolute beast for St. X Rugby, the driving force behind a three-peat. He was known for his intimidating figure, his devastating physicality, and his ferocious intensity. He was zeal personified.

Well, Tiger Nation, Parker is about to hit the national stage.

Parker informed us this week that he will travel to Canada with the United States’ U20 National Rugby Team. He will be a member of the team playing a qualifying match for the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy competition to be held in Portugal May 12th through May 24th.

“I am very grateful to be playing on the U.S. U20 team and represent my country,” Parker said. “Playing for the U19 squad was really great, but this is a big step up.”

Currently, Parker is currently attending Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. He plays rugby for the Lindenwood Lions, the university’s rugby club. But he has eyes on bigger opportunities.

“There isn’t anything after this level except for the Men’s National Team,” Parker explained. “That is a big reason why I’m so excited to be on the U20. There is a direct pathway to the Men’s National Team, and from there, professional teams in Europe.”

The possibility of becoming a professional rugby player is very real for Parker, and when he sets foot on the pitch in Victoria, British Colombia to take on the Canada U20 team, he will be taking another step in the right direction. He says he owes it all to his days at St. X.

“My time at St. X absolutely helped me,” Parker explained. “I had great coaches, a great group of guys on my team, and a great school that fully backed the program. Without St. X, I really wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to play [rugby], so getting noticed by USA Rugby would have been impossible.”

One of his coaches at St. X was his father, who is an assistant rugby coach under Head Coach Scott Sayler. He is an undoubtedly a proud papa at this time.

Wes Parker, Saint Xavier High School Class of 2014, is already making a name for himself on a national level. And we are pretty sure that he will be another exemplary figure that will show the world what the X-Factor means. Tradition Unequaled.

From all of us at WSTX Sports, Good Luck Wes!
