6 Tiger Athletes Sign
Six now Former Tigers inked their papers with their respective new schools today at a ceremony in The Wills Center after school. Tiger Football’s Jaylon Hibbs, Nathan Scheler, Mason King and Kyle Oliver are all moving on to the next level along with Tiger Swimming’s Trey Hubbuch and Tiger Soccer’s Ian Kassebaum.
Jaylon Hibbs – Centre College
Hibbs was a go-to receiver for Tiger Football this season. When Noah Houk needed a big play, he always looked in the direction of #21. The Senior wide out hauled in 21 receptions for 367 yards during his first season as a Varsity starter. You may remember him for his game-clinching touchdown reception in the regular season matchup vs. Trinity back in October.
Kyle Oliver – Centre College
Oliver will join Hibbs at Centre next season adding another two Former Tigers to the Colonels’ roster. Success is in the future if they follow in the footsteps of past Tigers already there like Alex Mattingly who dominated the SCAC in 2014. Kyle was a staple of the Tiger defense last season where he recorded 22 total tackles and intercepted 6 passes.
Nathan Scheler – University of Louisville
The center on the line is known as the leader of the offense. Every play started with the ball in Scheler’s hand for the Tigers and he anchored the protection of Houk very well. Rarely did you see the quarterback on the ground and the line always had a good push starting with Nathan. The rushing attack combined for over 1,000 yards behind him this season. Nathan will walk on in the fall for the Cardinals.
Mason King – University of Louisville
King will walk on for U of L as a punter this upcoming season. If you ever heard a loud boom coming from Br. Thomas More Stadium in 2014, it was probably from King’s leg launching a punt high into the sky. His punts flipped the field countless times giving the Tiger Defense a great field to work with.
Trey Hubbuch – Indiana University
As a part of the best swimming program in the nation, you’re going to be easily recruited. Every college coach wants a Former Tiger on their Swim Team! For Hubbuch, he decided on the Hoosiers to continue his swimming career. A three time state champion already, he looks to add another one here this month and continue his undefeated high school career.
Ian Kassebaum – St. Catharine College
Kassebaum is yet another Coach Schulten product to head to the next level. We interviewed Schulten a few years ago about guys playing soccer at smaller colleges and he couldn’t be more for it. He says it really is great because you get to continue playing the game you love and that’s just what Ian intends to do. He appeared in only one game last year, but did not allow any goals according to KHSAA.org.
