Good afternoon, WSTX Sports readers and Tiger Golf fans and welcome to the Humana Challenge LIVE DIARY on WSTXSports.com.  This will be a running diary of today’s Humana Challenge PGA Tour Event featuring our own Justin Thomas in La Quinta, CA.

It has been a while since we have done one of these so let’s remind you of how this works!  We will take you through the day with commentary of the scene with updates coming as often as possible. Refresh the page throughout the day to follow along.  Tweet us questions to @WSTXSports or have fun and be a part of the conversation in the comment section below! Go Tigers!

Here’s a look at Justin’s first three rounds:

Justin Thomas Humana Challenge First Round Scores

Justin Thomas Humana Challenge Second Round Scores

Justin Thomas Humana Challenge Third Round Scores

(4:08 PM) Thomas pars hole 6 to stay at -19 overall. He’s looking good on Golf Channel repping Tiger Tech and sporting his now sponsored Polo outfit.  Matt Kuchar, Steve Wheatcroft and Bill Haas are tied with Justin for first.

(4:18 PM) Par again on hole 7 keeps Justin at -19. Bill Haas moves into 1st with a birdie on 8. Thomas is tied with four other guys for 2nd.

(4:38 PM) Golf Channel analysts raving about Justin’s mechanics as he bogeys the 8th hole to move back two shots from the leader. He is now -18 after the first hole on the back 9.

Bill Clinton is about to join the guys in the TV booth there in La Quinta. Wonder if he realizes Justin was born three months after his first inauguration in 1993.

Yes, we are Chris!

Whoa. High praise from a Golf Channel staff writer

(5:01 PM) Thomas bounces back with a birdie on 11 to move back to -19. Justin is looking calm and poised to make a move here with only 7 holes remaining.

(5:12 PM) Justin Thomas pars again and stays one stroke back from the co-leaders Bill Haas and Scott Pinckney. Only six holes remain for the Former Tiger to make his move and claim his first PGA Tour win.

GolferGirl1122 knows what’s up!

(5:21 PM) Bill Haas birdies 11 and is two strokes ahead of Justin right now at -21 thru 12. Justin is going to need a few more birdies to go along with his 23 already. Good opportunities for that on holes 14 and 18.

(5:26 PM) Thomas gets his 38th par of the tournament keeping him at -19 after a near miss on his birdie attempt on the 13th green. Unfortunate we didn’t get any Bill Clinton quotes while he was in the booth on Golf Channel about Justin. That would’ve been epic.

This is just great! Thanks Mr. Squirrel!

(5:49 PM) BOOM! A big birdie puts Justin Thomas at -20 for the tournament thru 14 holes in the final round of the Humana Challenge. Bill Haas and Charley Hoffman (who is finished) lead with a -21 score.

(5:59 PM) Whoa, that was almost an ACE on 15, but yet another birdie puts Thomas TIED FOR THE LEAD at -21 with 3 holes remaining at the Humana Challenge in La Quinta, CA. Haas is in Thomas’ group at also is in that co-leader spot with Brendan Steele and Charley Hoffman who are both in the clubhouse.

Jeremy, more like… ALL OF TIGER NATION!

Truuuuu

(6:09 PM) Justin’s shot from the bunker lands right in the All-American Canal. Not a good second shot there on 16.

(6:18 PM) Double bogey on 16 makes things difficult for the Former Tiger as he goes into the final two holes. -19 and two shots off the lead which held by a huge group of guys, mostly already in the clubhouse.

(6:25 PM) Justin Thomas pars 17 and heads to the final hole, which is a Par 5, down two strokes. What a gutsy performance by the rookie, regardless of how this ends.

(6:52 PM) The Former Tiger ends a great day on the links with a birdie which sums up his great performance this weekend. A big check is once again on the way to Mr. Thomas. On behalf of Tiger Nation, Congrats Justin! He’s going to get some hardware here soon! “The Kid” is on the rise!
