Tiger Golf’s State Title was the 8th best story this year
Louisville Catholic Sports is rolling out their Top 10 stories of 2014 and the Tiger Golf team’s return to the top of Kentucky high school golf came in at No. 8.
It was the first state title since 2009 for the golf program and came after two runner-up finishes in back to back years, which added a little more fuel to the fire for this year’s run.
The Tigers shot a 586, finishing 27 strokes ahead of second-place finishers Franklin County and McCracken County.
Allen Hamilton led St. X with a two-day total of 1-under-par 143 that put him in a tie for third place.
The Tigers’ Mike Sass tied for 12th with a 149 after placing seventh as a freshman and 13th as a sophomore. Teammate Drew Kiehl also shot a 149.
Brandon Basham and Matt Liston each shot a 150 to tie for 18th.
Trinity’s state championship in football was ranked No. 5 on the list, but the regular season game was a lot more exciting. What say you Tiger Nation? Does the regular season beat down deserve to be on the list? Only three more stories are left to be unveiled.
