Charles May Miss Spring Football for UK
Kentucky Football Head Coach Mark Stoops held his end of the year press conference today to wrap up the year and talk about where his team is headed after his second year in charge. A Former Tiger’s name was brought up, but not for the best reason.
Stoops announced that he anticipates that Charles Walker will be kept out of spring practice after having offseason shoulder surgery sometime last week.
Also, Kentucky has switched offensive coordinators after Walker’s debut season with the Wildcats. He impressed the previous coordinator with his hard work and determination which led to him getting significant minutes for a walk-on, both on offense and special teams.
This will set him behind in impressing the new guy, Shannon Dawson, the former offensive coordinator at West Virginia, who will take the same position in Lexington, but Charles was able to make his way up the depth chart in just a summer and fall camp last year, so we know he’s more than capable of being ready to go week one for the Cats!
According to Twitter, he spoke with Coach Klein about it and his former basketball coach during his time at Tiger Tech wished Charles a speedy recovery. Walker knows a thing about injuries and bouncing back strong from them as he had many while playing here at St. X. If there is anyone that will come back stronger, it’s Charles!
We here at WSTX Sports, also hope for a quick and full recovery from what should be a minor bump on the road to a great career as a Wildcat for Charles Walker!
