The Tiger Football team took care of business on Friday night by beating the Daviess County Panthers 41-8 in the First Round of the KHSAA Football playoffs.

The Tigers struck early and jumped out of the gate to a 28-0 by the end of the first quarter.  Things were out of hand quickly, but execution stayed crisp all night long as players that normally don’t get a lot of playing time found themselves making plays in the postseason.

Sam Taylor, Taijon Smith and Colin O’Daniel scored the first three touchdowns of the game on the ground putting St. Xavier up 21-0.  Noah Houk  tossed his only touchdown pass of the night next as he connected with Jaylon Hibbs for an eight yard score to round out the opening quarter’s point total.

Wes Taylor and Chase Rowan each scored rushing touchdowns to bring the Tigers lead to 41 points before Daviess County got a garbage time touchdown to make the final score 41-8.

Manual defeated McCracken County, so the Tigers will host the Crimsons for a second time this season on Friday at 7:30 PM inside Br. Thomas More Stadium.  Thankfully we all don’t have to pack up and travel across the state to play McCracken County, so thank you Manual!

In the postseason, Tiger Football is 1-0… let’s keep the winning going! Remember November!
