Patrick McSweeney to be an honorary Knight
Patrick McSweeney received the opportunity of a lifetime last night from Bellarmine Knights Head Coach Scotty Davenport. The veteran coach surprised Patrick at his home with the news that he will be lacing it up to play for the Knights on Sunday against the University of Louisville.
We have featured Patrick’s story of his battle with leukemia on the site many times before, but we are extremely happy to hear about this exciting time for him and his family! As Louisville fans, the McSweeneys will have a day to remember this weekend! Patrick will be introduced as a stater for Bellarmine and will get to take the floor against his favorite team.
Local and national news have picked up on the story of Patrick’s game on Sunday. ESPN’s Dana O’Neil wrote a great piece on the Tiger turned Knight. The NCAA even tweeted out the news yesterday! Jonathan Lintner of the Courier-Journal’s article can be read here.
Tickets are still available for the game, so we encourage all of you in Tiger Nation to make it out to the Yum! Center on Sunday at 12:30 PM for the Cards vs. Knights game. It would be cool to see some Green and Gold in there supporting our fellow Tiger!
