Tomorrow night, the Tigers take the field for The Game.  If you didn’t know already, the Tigers will battle the Shamrocks at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at 8:00 PM.  We want to hear about your excitement through this post! Comment below your score prediction and how you think the Tigers will knock off Trinity for the first time since 2009.

Here’s some background information put together by the Courier-Journal’s Jason Frakes on the Trinity Shamrocks to help educate your prediction:

That team from Shelbyville Road (4-2)

Coach: Bob Beatty (15th season, 173-28).

Starters back: Offense 4, defense 9.

Class: 6-A, District 4.

Player to watch: Donald Brooks (5-11, 180) is ranked among the state’s top senior running backs after rushing for 896 yards and 15 touchdowns last year. He’s receiving interest from Louisville, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Auburn and Florida State.

Other top players: QB Larry Harper III (So.), WR/DB Rodjay Burns (Jr.), OL Bryant Colvin (Jr.), DL Connor Foos (Sr.), LB Damon Lowe (Jr.), LB Zach Berger (Sr.), DB Canon Jackson (Sr.), DB Alex Reisert (Sr.).

Outlook: After posting the worst record in Beatty’s tenure at the school last season, the Shamrocks have undergone some changes. Only one assistant coach from the defensive staff was retained, with longtime coach Jay Cobb being hired as defensive coordinator. Beatty also changed the preseason practice routine and has up to 20 athletes playing both offensive and defensive positions, a change in recent philosophy. Harper, Brooks and Burns should help put plenty of points on the scoreboard. The big question will be how much the defense has improved.

  1. I took St Xavier plus 14 points. Do I have a good bet? Please someone tell me

  2. I’m not paticularly good at picking who’s gonna win the game (I lost last week in fantasy to a guy who left 2 players with byes off the bench), but I guarantee with 100% certainty that St. X will win the battle of the bands.
