The first victory for St. X over Trinity this fall season has come. But it may be surprising as to which team claimed the first triumph over the Rocks.

Tiger Baseball has been practicing low-key since its State Championship in June, playing as the Ryken Baseball Club, which has been underway for a few months now. After a loss to Trinity on Sunday, the Tigers struck back and avenged that loss on Monday.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the score read 2-0 in favor of Trinity. After 2 outs were made, the bases were loaded for junior Brian O’Neil, usually designated as a pitcher only. O’Neil fell behind in the count early and the squad was down to its last strike. O’Neil swung at the next pitch without any doubt and ripped a 3-run triple into the right-centerfield gap to erase the deficit and earn Ryken a walk-off 3-2 victory.

Way to lead off Spirit Week the right way, squad. Prepare for more routs of the Rocks this week, Tiger Nation.
