Collin Roppel’s Wednesday Morning News and Notes
Tiger Lacrosse’s All-State Attackman turns 18 today and here’s a post dedicated to one of our favorite Tigers to watch on the field for his birthday! Roppel helped lead St. Xavier to their 2014 KY Lacrosse State Championship victory and had one of the most memorable performances of the year when he posted 8 goals against Trinity during the regular season meeting.
On to the news and notes…
-Tiger Football found themselves ranked lower than last week in the C-J Litkenhous Ratings after a loss to Moeller. They are now No. 9 in the local newspaper’s computer rankings.
-In this week’s AP Poll, Tiger Football fell to No. 6 in Class 6A. They fell from No. 4 where they were about a week ago.
-Spirit Week is almost upon us. What do you want to see from WSTX Sports during the big week leading up to the Trinity game? Trivia, videos, more X Men? You tell us. Leave your suggestion in the comment section below or tweet us @WSTXSports.
-One of the nominees for Tiger Athlete of the year has decided where he is going to play tennis in college. Senior Brandon Lancaster committed to the University of Louisville late last night and made his pledge to be a Cardinal. This a big get for the Louisville tennis program, keeping the defending state champion in state.
-The St. X alumni association claimed its third consecutive victory over the Trinity alumni association at the 15th annual Shillelagh Cup on Monday, September 15th at Hurstbourne Country Club. The score was 13-7. The Shillelagh Cup is a match-play contest modeled after the Ryder Cup. St. X leads the series 8-5-2.
