Although Saint Xavier dropped its Friday night showdown to Moeller, there was still a fair share of highlight plays for Tiger Football.

One came midway through the third quarter, when senior cornerback Davey Sermersheim swooped in from out of nowhere, jumped in front of junior Crusader tight end Jake Rausmann and intercepted a pass.  It turned out to be the Tigers’ lone takeaway of the game, and it had the huge, patriotic Rage Cage on its feet.

Sermersheim’s propensity as a ballhawk was on display, and the play was so beautiful that Mike Lacett of WDRB Sports nominated it one of WDRB Sports’ Best Plays of the Week.

Sermersheim will go up against Desales’ Austin Johnson and Tyler Tucker and North Oldham’s Arien Beasley for the title of Best Play of the Week.

Tiger Nation, we need YOU to help Davey win the poll! Each person can only vote once, so he needs every single one of you to get on and vote! The poll ends this coming Friday.

Vote for Davey here.
