GAME NOTES

BGHS vs St. X: The two schools will meet for the fourth consecutive season. It is the first time that the Purples and Tigers have played in four consecutive years and they are under contract to meet in 2015 and 2016. BGHS and St. X first met in 1925, with St. X winning at the Warren County Fairgrounds, 21-0. St. X won the initial eight games in the series, with the Purples scoring only a combined 48 points in those eight contests. BGHS is on a three-game win streak against St. X, winning in 2011 (28-20), 2012 (38-31), and 2013 (39-25). Last season, Devin Hayes threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns against the Tigers. This will be the tenth consecutive season that BGHS has played either St. X or Trinity…Two BGHS Seniors that played significant roles on last year’s championship team will make their first appearances of the season on Friday. SR WR Bradley Wierson will return to the starting lineup against St. X after missing the last three weeks with an injured quad. SO K Lee Ramsey suffered a broken arm in the Lexington Catholic game and will miss the next six weeks.

BGHS vs Lexington Catholic: BGHS defeated the Knights, 40-14 in the Republic Bank Bluegrass Bowl. SR QB Campbell Gott threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns. All three of those scoring passes were hauled in by SR TE Cameron Wallace, who had six receptions for 67 yards on the night. JR RB Jacob Yates had 20 carries for 158 yards and two touchdowns. JR S Tre Boards had 5 tackles, 3 assists, and 2 interceptions and SR DE Ben Holt was named the BGHS MVP in the contest for his 6 tackles, 3 assists, 2 sacks effort. JR OLB Andrew Spader led the Purples with 7 tackles and 3 assists.

RANKINGS: BGHS continues to be ranked #1 in every Class 5A poll. St. Xavier is ranked #3 by the AP Class 6A poll, #5 by Bluegrass Preps.

BGHS Football: BGHS currently has a 46-game winning streak. During that current streak, the Purples have outscored their opponents 2067-507 and have beaten 27 ranked teams. …The Purples have had two 26-game win streaks in school history (1995-96 and 1997-98 which included a forfeit win over Hopkinsville). The current football record at BGHS is 629-328-35 (.629), which places the Purples 11th on the KHSAA wins list. The Purples have captured four state championships and have made eight appearances in the state finals. BGHS has won eleven regional titles, including seven of the past nine. BGHS Head Coach Kevin Wallace has now moved into 20th place in KHSAA career wins. Wallace is 251-96 (.724) as a head coach and tops the list of career wins at BGHS, amassing a record of 206-35 (.856) as the mentor of the Purples.

JV: BGHS (1-0) defeated John Hardin, 20-14 and will host Owensboro on Monday

FR: The first game of the season vs. Monroe County was canceled. The BGHS FR team will travel to Central Hardin on Thursday.
