St. X coaches complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

In recent weeks, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken the nation by storm. It’s no surprise that some in the St. X community are stepping up to the challenge as well.  There is one person on staff for whom ALS is more than just a social media fad.  Coach Todd Walsh’s brother is suffering from ALS.  So Coach Walsh accepted the ice bucket challenge Wednesday, August 21 after football practice.  The football team was on hand to cheer him on.

St. X Assistant Wrestling Coach, Mr. Efren Quirino also took part in the challenge, with the help of his family.

Of course, these challenges would all be meaningless, if they didn’t actually do something to help ALS research.  Between June 29 and August 20, the ALS Association has raised 31.5 million dollars.  They only raised 1.9 million in that time period last year.  There was 8.6 million raised August 20 alone! It’s not too late to help, though.  Go to ALSA.org to donate.  And keep the Walsh family and all those living with ALS in your prayers.
