Tiger Golf had another impressive day on the course today as they won the Kentucky Invitational Tournament, which was held at Nevel Meade Golf Course this morning.  The Tigers split into two teams and the second team finished in second place.  Not too shabby.

The “Green” Team shot 298 to win the Tigers 20th KIT Team Championship.  Junior Matt Liston, who fired a 1-over par 73, lead the way for the team. Drew Kiehl, also a junior, was next for St. X with a 2-over par 74 while junior Billy Basham was next with a 3-over par 75.  Junior Michael Sass completed the scoring for the Tigers shooting a 4-over par 76.

The “Gold” Team for Tiger Golf and the Shamrocks of Trinity tied for runner-up team honors shooting 299.  The Tigers Gold Team won runner-up honors by virtue of the 5th player shooting a lower score as the Gold Team was lead by senior Jack Berger’s even par 72.  Peter Brown, JR. was next with a 2-over 74 while freshman Jay Kirchdorfer shot a 4-over par 76 for St. X.  Senior Kyle Saffron completed the scoring for the Gold Team with a 5-over par 77.

Tiger Golf’s Jack Berger (Gold) finished in a tie for 6th place shooting 72 and Matt Liston of St. Xavier (Green) finished in a tie for 8th place as he shot 73.

The coolest part of the tournament might have been the fact that Former Tiger Golf Legend Justin Thomas was in attendance to watch his Alma Mater and he tweeted this picture out.  Very cool.

Is Justin passing the torch to Jay to be the next great golfer from Poplar Level Road?
