2014 Tiger Football Position-by-Position Preview: New Coaches
Part nine in a ten part series previewing the 2014 St. Xavier Football Tigers: New Coaches
Adam Billings: Offensive Line
Bart Bruner: Defensive Coordinator
Too hard to choose, honestly.
Neither were on the St. X staff last year, but they both bring more than enough coaching experience to the table.
In year two of the Will Wolford Era, we are focusing on two new additions to his staff. Both of them should have significant impacts on the direction of this year’s team.
Adam Billings returns to Poplar Level Road after resurrecting the football program at Elizabethtown High School. He will be tasked with coaching the offensive linemen. Billings has experience as a player on the O-Line, and he knows how important his guys are. He won two state championships as a player at St. X under Mike Glaser and has held several coaching positions at schools in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
Billings brings out the best in his players, and the Tiger Offensive Lineman are already enjoying his tough and enthusiastic coaching style.
Bart Bruner returns to the St. X coaching staff as the head of the defense. He is a well-known figure, and many players already view him as the perfect fit.
“Coach Bruner is a great teacher,” linebacker Kyle Oliver said during the spring. “He is a good leader and a very intense guy. We all respect him greatly.”
Bruner’s energy and grit will certainly prepare the Tiger Defense for all the battles they will have this coming season.
Tiger Nation can be sure to see both coaches racing up and down the sidelines and shouting commands this fall.
