Lancaster and Singerman win The Creason
The Tiger Tennis team season may be over, but many of the St. X tennis players were in action this weekend in one of the biggest tournaments in Kentucky. The 2014 Joe Creason Kentucky State Qualifier ran from Saturday until today which featured 669 matches in age groups from 12 to 18 years old.
Drew Singerman upset the No. 1 seed Jordan Pitts to win the 16 Singles tournament 6-4, 6-1 in the finals. Singerman also defeated Dino Selimovic of Atherton in the quarterfinals just like he did in the KHSAA Singles State Championship tournament.
2014 KHSAA Singles State Champion and No. 1 seed for The Creason, Brandon Lancaster won the 18 Singles tournament by defeating Daniel Lineberry 6-2, 6-1 in the finals at Kentucky Country Day. Lancaster defeated his former teammate and recent St. X graduate Coleman Cox in the Semifinals 6-0, 6-0. Nick Waldeck also made it to the Quarterfinals of the 18 Singles tournament.
By winning these tournaments, Singerman and Lancaster qualify to advance to their respective Southern Closed tournaments. Singerman will be playing in Little Rock, AR and Lancaster will be playing in Mobile, AL.
