Former Tiger Alex Gornet was born and raised a Louisville Cardinals fan, but now he is thriving as a member of the Cardinal Tennis Team.  The 2011 and 2012 KHSAA State Tennis Runner-up follows in the footsteps of his father who played for UofL also and is about to lead his team into the NCAA Tournament today against Wake Forest in Columbus, OH.

As the only player from Louisville on the roster this year for the Cardinals, Gornet has been either the No. 3 or No. 4 singles player all season long, good for a 26-6 record.  He is 16-3 in dual matches and 23-15 in doubles.

“I love my team, and I love being in my hometown because the support around here is great,” said Gornet.  “I have friends who keep up with me, adults who I used to play with who keep up with me, and I don’t think I would get that kind of support in other cities or at other schools that are farther away.”
