Tiger Baseball Dispatches North Oldham on Alumni Night
Tiger Baseball improved its record to 21-7 Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over North Oldham High School.
They did it by jumping on the Mustangs early, and then letting the right arm of Cam Revelette take them all the way home on a night where past members of St. X baseball dating all the way back to the 1940’s were present to take part in Alumni Night festivities.
Revelette again showed why he is an ace in the making, using overpowering stuff to soundly control the Mustang lineup from top to bottom in spinning a two-hit, complete-game shutout with 7 strikeouts and no walks. In one word, Revelette was simply dominant in Wednesday’s outing, which improved his record to 6-1 and lowered his ERA to a phenomenal 1.78.
With the best of the North Oldham pitching staff, Ethan Cleary, on the mound to face St. X, the Tigers knew they would have to capitalize on any and every run scoring opportunity, as there would no doubt be few in this game.
Right out of the gate, St. X executed that game plan. After a walk, a single, and a balk call put runners on second and third with one out, senior Hayden Ford came to the plate; on an 0-2 count, Ford hammered a bouncing ball down the third base line and past the third baseman that knocked in his 14th and 15th runs of the season and put the Tigers on top 2-0.
A wild pitch eventually brought home a third Tiger run, and St. X got all the scoring it would need in the opening frame, as Revelette shut down North Oldham from there.
St. X will be back in action at Ballard today at 7:30.
