Bobby Schmitt named ECAC Specialist of the Year
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Lacrosse League announced its 2014 All-Conference teams and major award winners today, and Former Tiger and current Bellarmine Knight Bobby Schmitt was among the honorees. The voting was completed by the ECAC Lacrosse League head coaches, who could not cast a ballot for their own student-athletes.
After helping Bellarmine to its first season above .500 since 2010, Schmitt–a long stick midfielder–has been chosen as the ECAC Lacrosse Specialist of the Year. Schmitt appeared in all 12 of the Knights’ games in 2014, starting 10 contests and handing out seven assists from his longstick midfield position.
He leads the ECAC with 19 caused turnovers and also finished in the top-10 in ground balls (36). Schmitt earned All-ECAC First Team honors this season, marking the third time in his career he has garnered All-ECAC laurels. Schmitt was previously named to the All-ECAC Second Team in 2013 and ECAC All-Rookie Team in 2012.
